Veins of  Stratford

Project

Overview

Veins of Stratford is an interactive installation that reflects Stratford's historic wetlands and rivers, focusing on the impact of human development. Visitors interact with projected visuals of abstract, flowing lines that mimic the movement of water and wind, representing the growth and transformation of wetlands. As participants move through the space, their shadows cause the visuals to shift, ripple, and expand, illustrating the interaction between human presence and nature.

The minimalist aesthetic uses a black, grey, white, and navy colour palette, creating a calming, immersive environment. Dynamic organic shapes flow and evolve, symbolizing the fragile balance of nature and the influence of human intervention. The installation encourages reflection on the relationship between humans and natural ecosystems, aligning with the Re-imagine Stratford festival theme by highlighting the need for sustainable coexistence.

What is it?

The Lights On Stratford Winter Festival of Lights is an annual celebration held in Stratford, Ontario, featuring a variety of illuminated art installations and interactive displays that transform the city's historic downtown and park areas into a vibrant winter wonderland. This year’s theme is “Reimagine,” encouraging visitors to see Stratford in new, creative ways through artful light displays.

A highlight for 2024 is the Everbright installation, which allows visitors to create large-scale, colorful light art using interactive dials, and new light trails connecting Market Square to scenic spots around Stratford.
