Introducing Veins of Stratford: Who are we and what is it?

We are a team of GBDA students from the University of Waterloo working towards creating an interactive installation for the Lights On Stratford festival. Our project is called, The veins of Stratford, and is an interactive art installation that intertwines with the historic landscape of Stratford through digital technology to present the beauty and fragility of the wetlands. This installation creates an interesting yet contemplative experience for connecting with nature that is seamlessly weaved into the bloodstream of Stratford, exploring the deep-impact human development has had inside these ecosystems.

As visitors traverse through the exhibit, waves from flowing light and nearby areas ripple rhythmically across the space, reminiscent of the flowing river water and the gentle dance of the wind. Smooth, abstract, and flowing projections react in real-time and are responsive to each step and gesture. The shadows cast by the visitors animate the lines, alternately bending, expanding, and reforming, creating a beautiful dance of presence and absence.

Week 1 Progress to Our Goal:

As of right now the team is on a great track to reach our goal of having the installation ready for the festival. For the first week, the team has created our website as well as social media accounts to advertise the installation and provide updates. Kate Davies, our team lead, has been guiding our team and delegating tasks to all team members and has been helping on all fronts of the project. Our marketing team has been creating promotional material as well as posting on social media to establish online presence. The head of media, Aaron, has been creating all of the team's graphics and assets like logos etc. And our lead programmer Kenny has been working on finalizing our early prototype. Altogether with synergy we have been working to start this journey of creating and showcasing The Veins of Stratford.
